Why a World Traveler Chose Santa Rosa Beach as Her Forever Escape
By Marina H.
After years of traveling the world, I've learned that every destination leaves you with something different. Some places amaze you with their history. Others captivate you with incredible food, architecture, or culture. As someone who speaks fluent English, French, and Italian, I've been fortunate to connect with people and experience destinations on a much deeper level.
I've wandered through the vineyards of France, explored charming villages in Italy, relaxed on Caribbean islands, and visited countless beautiful beaches around the globe.
Yet, if you asked me where I'd return to over and over again, my answer would be immediate.
Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
Without question, it's my favorite place in the world.
Falling in Love with Florida's Emerald Coast
The first time I visited Santa Rosa Beach, I knew this wasn't just another beach destination.
The powder-soft white sand felt like silk beneath my feet. The brilliant emerald-green waters stretched endlessly along the Gulf of Mexico, and the sunsets painted the sky with breathtaking shades of orange, pink, and gold. Life seemed to move at a different pace here—one where mornings started with coffee on the porch, afternoons were spent soaking up the sunshine, and evenings ended listening to waves gently roll onto the shore.
I've visited famous coastlines throughout Europe and beyond, but there is something truly special about Florida's Emerald Coast that simply can't be replicated.
It didn't take long before I realized I wanted to become more than just another visitor.
I Loved It So Much, I Built My Own Beach House
Some people buy souvenirs after falling in love with a destination.
I built a beach house.
Creating a home in Santa Rosa Beach was never just an investment—it was a dream come true. I wanted a place where my family and friends could gather, relax, and experience everything that makes the 30A lifestyle so unforgettable.
Because I still love exploring the world, I can't be there year-round. So when I'm away traveling, I open my home to guests as a luxury Santa Rosa Beach vacation rental, allowing other families to create their own unforgettable memories along Scenic Highway 30A.
If you're planning a getaway to Florida's Emerald Coast, I'd love to welcome you. You can learn more about my beach house and availability at 30ABeachHouse.com.
Exploring Scenic Highway 30A
One of the things that makes Santa Rosa Beach so extraordinary is its location along Scenic Highway 30A, one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the United States.
Rather than being one beach town, 30A is a collection of charming coastal communities, each with its own unique personality.
I love spending my days exploring:
- Seaside, with its iconic pastel cottages and welcoming town square.
- Rosemary Beach, known for elegant architecture and European-inspired charm.
- Alys Beach, famous for its striking white buildings and luxurious atmosphere.
- Grayton Beach, where creativity, local art, and laid-back beach life come together.
Every community feels different, yet they're all connected by the same stunning coastline that makes 30A so unforgettable.
Why I Love Exploring by Bike
One of my favorite ways to experience 30A is by bicycle.
The paved bike path connects many of the communities, making it easy to spend the day discovering hidden coffee shops, local boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and quiet beach accesses.
There's something incredibly relaxing about slowing down and enjoying the scenery instead of rushing from one destination to another.
That's part of what makes the 30A lifestyle so special.
More Than Beautiful Beaches
Although Santa Rosa Beach is famous for its pristine shoreline, there's so much more to discover.
Some of my favorite experiences include:
- Paddleboarding on the rare coastal dune lakes.
- Watching dolphins play offshore.
- Sunset cruises across the Gulf.
- Fresh Gulf seafood at locally owned restaurants.
- Family beach bonfires.
- Outdoor concerts and community events.
- Shopping at charming local boutiques.
- Hiking through Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.
Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a girls' weekend, a family vacation, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, you'll quickly discover why so many visitors return year after year.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Santa Rosa Beach?
Every season offers something different, but my personal favorite is late summer and early fall.
The Gulf water is still wonderfully warm, the weather is beautiful, and the beaches are often a little quieter than during peak summer months.
It's the perfect time to enjoy long walks on the beach, spectacular sunsets, and peaceful mornings before the day begins.
Why Santa Rosa Beach Will Always Feel Like Home
Travel has taught me that "home" isn't always where you were born.
Sometimes it's the place that brings you the greatest sense of peace.
For me, that's Santa Rosa Beach.
It's where I can slow down, reconnect with nature, enjoy unforgettable sunsets, and appreciate life's simple pleasures.
Out of every destination I've explored across the world, this is the place I chose to build a home.
And that says everything.
Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another unforgettable vacation, I hope you'll experience the same sense of wonder that inspired me to put down roots here.
Who knows?
You might just fall in love with Santa Rosa Beach the way I did.
